Sydney Harbour’s extraordinary marine biodiversity

Mosman
It’s a fun fact, which we love, that in and around Sydney Harbour, we have over 600 unique species of fish.

To put that in context, that's the same biodiversity as the entirety of the European continent. So we've got this reasonably small area, with huge biodiversity.

The other really important thing is that over 70% of those species are endemic to (found only in) Australia. So if we lose them in Australia, we lose them globally. Protecting our marine habitats, but not only that, protecting the biodiversity we have, is critical for future generations, so that they get the equitable experience that we've been so fortunate to have here.
