The future of Life on Earth
EO Wilson was an ecologist, and biologist with a lifelong interest in nature and the outdoors.
He was involved in the conservation of biodiversity from the 1970s, and in 1984 he published Biophilia, which explores the evolutionary and psychological connection between people and the natural world. In 2014, Wilson led an argument to set aside 50% of Earth's land for the priority of species conservation and to save life on Earth. This led to his book Half-Earth and the Half-Earth project.
